WIM-style deposits are located predominantly in the Wimmera and Mallee regions of western Victoria. These large, long life deposits contain both mineral sands – including significant quantities of zircon – and rare earths. Because of the fineness of their mineral content, development of the WIM-style deposits is technically challenging. Iluka holds tenements over WIM-style deposits in western Victoria; and is conducting a preliminary feasibility study (PFS) on the WIM100 deposit, south west of Horsham. The PFS will focus on recovery of fine sized minerals, zircon product eligibility for the ceramics market; and monetising rare earth co-products.
