Eucla Basin Zircon Sand

Iluka’s Eucla Basin Premium Zircon sand is a high-grade zircon with a guaranteed ZrO2 and HfO2 content of 66.0 per cent.

It is supplied in bulk, bulk in container or 2 metric tonne bulk bags from various international warehouses conveniently located in or close to major markets. 

Eucla Basin Premium Zircon sand is mined at Jacinth-Ambrosia in South Australia, which commenced production in 2010. A brownfield development, Iluka utilises its existing mineral processing facilities for the production of Eucla Basin Premium Zircon sand at the company’s Narngulu mineral separation plant in Western Australia and the Hamilton mineral separation plant in Victoria, Australia.

In 2012, the company produced over 150,000 tonnes of Eucla Basin Premium Zircon sand.

Murray Basin Natural Rutile Sand

Murray Basin Premium Natural Rutile sand is a high-grade rutile product with a guaranteed TiO2 content of 95.0 per cent. A Standard Rutile product with a guaranteed TiO2 content of 92.0 per cent is also available.


It is supplied in bulk, bulk in container or 2 metric tonne bulk bags from various international warehouses upon enquiry.

Murray Basin Natural Rutile sand is mined at Woornack, Rownack and Pirro in Victoria, Australia and processed nearby at the company’s Hamilton mineral separation plant. Mining and processing in the Murray Basin commenced in 2007.

In 2012, the company produced over 170,000 tonnes of Murray Basin Natural Rutile sand.

Virginia Zircon Sand

Virginia Zircon sand is a high-grade zircon produced in a range of varying specifications from 65.0 to 66.0 per cent ZrO2 and HfO2

It is supplied in bulk or bag from warehouses ex Virginia and from various international warehouses upon  enquiry.

Virginia Zircon sand is mined at the Concord and Brink operations, in Virginia, United States of America. Iluka’s mining activities in Virginia commenced in 1998, coinciding with the construction of the company’s Stony Creek mineral separation plant.

In 2012, the company produced approximately 50,000 tonnes of Virginia Zircon sand.

Murray Basin Zircon Sand

Murray Basin Premium Zircon sand is a high-grade zircon with a guaranteed ZrO2 and HfO2 content of 66.0 per cent. A Standard Zircon product with a guaranteed ZrO2 and HfO222 content of 65.0 per cent is also available.


It is supplied in bulk, bulk in container or 2 metric tonne bulk bags from various international warehouses conveniently located in or close to major markets.

Murray Basin Zircon sand is mined at Woornack, Rownack and Pirro in Victoria, Australia and processed nearby at the company​'s Hamilton mineral separation plant. Mining and processing in the Murray Basin commenced in 2007.

In 2012, the company produced over 130,000 tonnes of Murray Basin Zircon sand, making it the world​'s third largest zircon operation.

Synthetic Rutile

Iluka’s Premium Synthetic Rutile is a high-grade synthetic rutile product with a guaranteed TiO2 content of 91.0 per cent. A Standard Synthetic Rutile product with a guaranteed TiO2 content of 88.0 per cent is also available. Iluka also produces an Ultra Synthetic Rutile product with a typical TiO2 content of 95.0 per cent.


It is supplied in bulk from various Australian ports.

Iluka’s Synthetic Rutile is processed in kilns at the company’s Perth Basin operations, in the Mid West and South West of Western Australia.

In 2012, the company produced approximately 250,000 tonnes of Synthetic Rutile.

HyTi (Leucoxene)

Iluka’s HyTi is a high-grade leucoxene product produced in two specifications, with a guaranteed TiO2 content of 90.0 per cent and 91.0 per cent respectively. All of the leucoxene Iluka produces is naturally occurring.


It  is available in bulk, bulk in container or 2 metric tonne bulk bags from various international warehouses upon enquiry.

HyTi is produced from various Iluka mines and processed at Iluka’s Narngulu mineral separation plant in Western Australia or the Hamilton mineral separation plant in Victoria, Australia.

In 2012, the company produced approximately 43,000 tonnes of Hyti.

Activated Carbon

Iluka’s Activated Carbon is a unique, high quality coal based carbon, with an iodine number of 1,100 or above and 15 per cent ash or less. Various other grades of lower iodine and higher ash are also produced.

Iluka’s Activated Carbon is supplied bulk in container or 400 kilogram bulk bags shipped from Australia.

Iluka’s Activated Carbon is produced at the company’s South West operation in Western Australia, during the synthetic rutile process.

In 2012, the company produced approximately 6,000  tonnes of Activated Carbon.

Iron Concentrate

Iluka’s Iron Concentrate has an iron grade of between 58.0 to 64.0 per cent Fe, and, is similar to iron ore fines.

 Iluka’s Iron Concentrate is supplied in bulk, from Australia.

Iluka recovers Iron Concentrate as a by-product of its synthetic rutile production at its South West operations in Western Australia.

In 2012, the company produced approximately 240,000 tonnes of Iron Concentrate.

Secondary Ilmenite

Iluka’s Virginia Secondary Ilmenite is a high-grade chloride ilmenite product with an average TiO2 content of 59.5 per cent.

Iluka’s Virginia Ilmenite is supplied in bulk, or 2 metric tonne bulk bags from the Virginia operation.

Virginia Ilmenite is mined at the Concord and Brink operations, in Virginia, United States of America. Iluka’s mining activities in Virginia commenced in 1998, coinciding with the construction of the company’s Stony Creek mineral separation plant. 

In 2012, the company produced approximately 202,000 tonnes of ilmenite for direct sale and a further 12,000 tonnes of ilmenite for upgrading from its Virgnia operation.

Primary Ilmenite

Iluka’s Murray Basin Primary Ilmenite is an ilmenite product with a typical TiO2 content of between 50 and 54 per cent.

Iluka’s Murray Basin Ilmenite is supplied in bulk, bulk in container or 2 metric tonne bulk bags from various international warehouses upon enquiry.

Murray Basin Ilmenite is mined at Woornack, Rownack and Pirro in Victoria, Australia and processed nearby at the company’s Hamilton mineral separation plant. Mining and processing in the Murray Basin commenced in 2007.

In 2012, the company produced approximately 96,000 tonnes of ilmenite for direct sale and a further 72,000 tonnes of ilmenite for upgrading from its Murray Basin operation.
